Help get more girls involved in FIRST

Hi Teams,

Can't believe our robots will be in their boxes in two weeks!

  1. After hearing all the voting comments for the handout for the regional events we have decided to go with purple bandanas. We will be ordering up a large bunch so that we can get them out to the Ambassador Teams.

  2. We would like to thank Robyn from team 768 for this idea! We have created a pdf to printout if your team is interested in making up buttons for the regional events. We will not be able to get enough bandanas for every girl in FIRST, so having buttons as well will be great to help spread the word. http://www.usfirstgirls.org/media/Button%20Page.pdf It is for a standard 2 1/4 button maker, which is common for the Badge-A-Minit and Tecre 225.

  3. We had a great call with the outreach manager with the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) on Monday. We are working on some ways that teams can help get their members more involved. In turn this should help us get more female mentors for teams! We will be sending out more details soon.

  4. Ambassador Teams. There are still a few regional events without Ambassador team(s).   5. Forums. We have a few new discussions to participate in. Bandanas - Since we won’t have enough bandanas for every girl at the regionals, we are ordering around 6,000 to 8,000 bandanas. That will average around 4 per team. Which means we need to come up with a criteria for how we hand them out. http://www.usfirstgirls.org/forum/topic/9

Collecting information. We can collect some information by observation. Like number of girls working in the pits, or number of girl drivers… Discussion here http://www.usfirstgirls.org/forum/topic/6
